Loudonville - Mary J. McGirr, 80, passed away October 14th after a short illness. Born in England, Mary lived in Ireland before coming to the United States in 1983. She and her husband Eamonn, a well-known Irish entertainer operated a seasonal pub on Cape Cod before relocating to the Capital Region. Mary and Eamonn owned the very popular Irish pub and restaurant appropriately called Eamonn’s in Loudonville. Mary never sought the limelight, but customers and friends were captivated by her engaging personality and sweet way. Mary, Eamonn and their daughter, Mareena hosted Siena Colleges’ WVCR88.3 Radio Show, Proud to be Irish for close to 27 years.
Mary is survived by her daughter Mareena of Loudonville, her sister Margaret of Melbourne, Australia and sister-in-law Kristine, and her nieces, Kay, Carolyn, Rachael and Claire. She was predeceased by her parents Arthur and Majorie Tattersall, her husband, Eamonn McGirr and brother, George Tattersall.
Friends are invited to a visitation Monday, October 20th from 10-10:30AM in St Pius X Church’s Chapel, 23 Crumitie Road, Loudonville with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated immediately following.
Mary will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Albany Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Mary’s memory to the Center for Disability Services Foundation, 314 South Manning Blvd. Albany, New York 12208.
