Troy - Mary Proctor Bissett, 97, died Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at Eddy Terrace in Troy.
Born in Ludlow, VT, she was daughter of the late Merrill F. Proctor and Verna Ades Proctor and wife of the late Harold Robert Bissett, whom she married in 1953. She was raised in Ludlow, VT, moved a bit and settled in Wynantskill in 1963. Mary was a graduate of Black River Academy in Ludlow, VT, the University of Rochester where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in 1948 and earned her Masters in Social Work from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland in 1953.
Mary was a Social Worker for the Child Welfare Division in Rochester, NY and University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio.
She was a Girl Scout Leader, a member of the PTA and NYS Theater Institute and a Hospice volunteer. She was an extremely active member of the First Reformed Church of Wynantskill where she was a Sunday School Teacher and a member of the church choir.
Survivors include two daughters, Ann (Lynn Koerbel) Bissett and Jane (Mark) Shepard; her grandchildren, Jerry (Sarah) Ryan and Christopher (Heather) Ryan and three great grandchildren, Murphy, Norah and Kellan. She was predeceased by a brother, Frank Proctor.

Relatives and friends may call at the First Reformed Church of Wynantskill Church Street and Main Avenue Wynantskill on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 from 2-4 PM with a funeral service to follow at 4PM with Rev. Bethany Popkes, officiating.
Interment will be in Saxtons River Cemetery in Saxtons River, VT.
