Martha M. (Sullivan) Strait

Eagle Mills - Martha M. Sullivan Strait, 96, died Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at Samaritan Hospital after a short illness.

Born in East Poestenkill, she was daughter of the late Joseph N. Sullivan and Augusta Lindeman Sullivan and wife of the late Andrew B. Strait, Jr. She was raised in East Poestenkill and Boston and resided in Eagle Mills most of her adult life and was a graduate of Troy High School and attended Boston University.

Martha was devoted to her family and remained at home full time while raising her children. Her cooking was exceptional. She paid close attention to home decoration, collecting antiques with her friends and activities at the Hope United Methodist Church in Eagle Mills. She dearly enjoyed the family pets, especially Smoother and Dixie the cats, Brookie the beagle and Tibbits the spaniel.

Survivors include two sons, Lawrence E. Strait, Lake Placid and Douglas A. Strait, Eagle Mills, two grandchildren, Gregory H. and Alexander J. Strait, a sister, Nancy L. Sullivan, three nephews and their children. She was predeceased by two brothers, Edward and Lawrence Sullivan and nephew Mark Sullivan.

Funeral service private at the convenience of the family.

Interment will be at a later date in Taborton Cemetery Taborton, NY.
