Matthews, NC - Marguerite Wilder Pakan, 93, died Friday, June 9, 2023, at Matthews Health and Rehab Matthews, NC after a short illness.
Born in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Dwight H. Wilder and Marguerite Bennett Wilder, and wife for 72 years of John R. Pakan of Matthews, NC. She was raised in Poestenkill and resided in Clifton Park for 43 years prior to moving to North Carolina, was a graduate of Troy High School and attended Mildred Elley.
Marguerite was a dental assistant for Dr. Donald Wallace DDS in Troy for several years and also worked in the laboratory at Samaritan Hospital.
She was an avid contract bridge player, a member of the Bridge Club in Poestenkill and numerous bridge club groups in Clifton Park. She also was a member of the Schenectady and Poestenkill Home Bureaus, a social member of the Clifton Park - Halfmoon Emergency Corp. and congregant at the Shenendehowa and Matthews, NC United Methodist Church’s.
Survivors in addition to her husband include her son, Dwight J. Pakan and grandchildren, Dwight Joseph and Thomas Stephen Pakan of Charlotte, NC. She was predeceased by her beloved daughter-in-law Elizabeth (Newell) Pakan.
Funeral service will be held on Monday June 19 th at 11AM at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc., 276 Pawling Avenue in Troy, with Rev. Raymond Stees, Retired Pastor of Jonesville United Methodist Church officiating.
Interment will be in Elmwood Hill Cemetery in Troy.
