AVERILL PARK - Margaret Ringwall Weiss “Peg”, 94, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 24, 2026 at Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center.
Born in the Great Depression, she graduated from Averill Park Central School, class of ‘48, and Plattsburgh State Teachers College with a BS in Nursing in 1952, followed by marriage to Paul Weiss which lasted 45 years, raising 3 children. She had a long career as a school-nurse-teacher.
She was an active member of Church of the Covenant, singing in the choir for over 60 years. A woman of varied interests, she qualified as a private pilot, second-mated a cabin cruiser, and later joined the Sand Lake Kiwanis Club, all while knitting and quilting and remembering everyone’s birthday with a card.
She is survived by daughter, Deborah Heggen (Ole, deceased); sons, Brian Weiss (Cynthia) , Glenn Weiss (Patty) and grandchildren, Joshua Weiss, Nathan Heggen, Ian Heggen, Robert Weiss, and Kelsey Kelly, and 8 great grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held on Sat, Aug 29 at 11A at Church of the Covenant, followed by a luncheon at Lakeview Restaurant.
