M. Claire (Pelletier) Ranken

Troy - M. Claire Pelletier Ranken, 93, died Thursday, October 12, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Claire was a lifelong resident of Troy and long time summer resident of N. Hero, VT. She was the daughter of the late Antonio Pelletier and Margaret (Carroll) Pelletier and wife of the late Thomas H. Ranken.

Claire graduated from Catholic Central High School and attended Troy Business College. While mostly employed as a “greatly appreciated” homemaker, she did have occasional employment as clerk/parts manager for D.E. Cohen Hudson dealership (N. Troy), clerk for Barnett’s Card Shop (Latham) and Table Talk Pies (Defreestville and Rotterdam).

She is survived by her children Margo Ranken and Harry Ranken of Troy, Grace (Jerry) Vermilyea of Averill Park; her grandson,  Jeremy Vermilyea (Chelsea Day); and great-granddaughters Josephine, Eleanor and Poppy of Fairfax, VT.; her niece Barbara Ranken Mohamed of N. Hero VT; and  several grand-nieces and nephews as well as various cousins in New York, Vermont and Massachusetts. She was predeceased by her sister Carroll Pelletier.

Special thanks to Barb Macey, for her continued support and advice to the family. In addition, Claire and her family greatly appreciate the services of Community Hospice; in particular, the compassionate care and friendship of Michelle Godfrey.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 from 4 - 6PM. All other services will be private at the convenience of the family.
