Albany, NY - Linda R. Fisher, 73, of Albany died Wednesday, April 20, 2016 after a long illness.
Born in North Tonawanda, NY, Linda was the daughter of the late Robert J. Fisher and Alice Rose Lindhurst Fisher. She was raised in Denver, Colorado, where she graduated from East High School. Linda earned a B.A. in Journalism from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
Throughout her long career in public service, Linda served as Executive Deputy Commissioner for the New York City Human Resources Administration, and held various executive positions in the administration of Governor Mario Cuomo.
Linda was President of the Charles Lawrence Keith and Clara Miller Foundation and served on the Board of Directors of the Independent Living Center of the Hudson Valley. She was a member of The Women’s Press Club of New York State and the Women’s Club of Albany. Her generosity, leadership and progressive values will be missed by the many people whose lives she touched.
Survivors include her siblings, Janet Wilkowski, Westminster, CO, Norman L. (Valerie) Fisher, Irvine, CA, Elizabeth (Alan) Woodard, Golden, CO and Judith (Reif) Heck, Denver, CO; several nieces and nephews; and her companion, Janet Sanders.
Everyone is invited to a gathering of friends on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 from 4-7 PM at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy. A celebration of Linda’s life will take place in Albany in July.
