Lillian (Halit) Schatz

Wynantskill - Lillian Halit Schatz, 98, of Whiteview Road died Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at her residence after a brief illness.

Born in Lewiston, ME, she was daughter of the late Cherchis Halit and Mabel Petrie Halit and wife of the late John G. Schatz Sr. She had resided in Lewiston, Maine and later Waterbury, Connecticut, Greenfield, Massachusetts, Interlaken, Massachusetts and since 1957 in Wynantskill. She was a graduate of Wilby High School in Waterbury, CT. 

Lillian worked for the Department of the Navy as a clerk during World War II and later was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Octagon Painters in Wynantskill, First Reformed Church in Wynantskill, the Wynantskill PTA, the Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary and was a Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts leader.  Lillian always enjoyed her annual trip to York Beach, Maine.   

Survivors include her daughter, Kathy M. Schatz, Wynantskill; her son, James J. (Julie) Schatz, Stephentown; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Catherine Schatz and John George Schatz. She was predeceased by her son, John G. Schatz Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service Sunday, October 17, 2021 at 2PM at Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy with Rev. Judy Converse, officiating. Face covering and social distancing are required if not vaccinated.

Interment will be in  Evergreen Cemetery in Wynantskill.
