Kurt Whitney Obituary

Watervliet - Kurt A. Whitney, known to many simply as Kurt, passed away on June 23, 2026, in Watervliet, New York, at the age of 43.

Born on August 27, 1982, in Norwich, Connecticut, where he was raised till his late teens then moved to Troy with his father Keith.  He was a son, brother, and friend whose presence brought comfort and familiarity to those who knew him best. Throughout his life, he carried himself with a straightforward honesty and a cutthroat humor that made him easy to know and difficult to forget.

Kurt earned his GED, a milestone that reflected his determination and perseverance. He approached life with a practical mindset and a strong work ethic, qualities that served him well throughout his years in the food service industry.

Outside of work, Kurt found enjoyment in the simple pleasures of life. He had an interest in poker, a pastime that reflected both his patience and his appreciation for strategy and friendly competition. Whether spending time with others or enjoying a quiet moment to himself, he valued connection, conversation, and the comfort of familiar routines. Those who shared time with him will remember his personality and his sense of humor. Kurt lived a life marked by quiet strength, loyalty, and a warm spirit that touched the people around him.

Kurt is survived by his father, Harold Keith Whitney, mother, Patricia A. Grasso, devoted sister, Mary Whitney (Latham), brothers, Louis LePage and Donald Ladd (Norwich CT) and many others whose lives were enriched by his presence. He was preceded in death by his twin brother Clinton K. Whitney, His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him as a son, brother, and cherished family member.

Those who mourn his passing will remember Kurt for the life he lived and the relationships he built along the way. He faced life in his own way, with resilience and a spirit that was uniquely his. In his youth Kurt worked hard and partied like a rock star surrounded by lifelong friends. Later in life he would often hibernate but, when he was with family and friends, he was quick with a joke and fell into deep conversations weather you wanted to or not. Though his time here was far too short, the impact of his life remains in the memories shared by family and friends, in the laughter he inspired, and in the moments of kindness that defined him. May he rest in peace.
