Kathryn E. (Ives) VanWert

Pittstown - Kathryn E. Ives VanWert, 93, died Monday surrounded by her family, May 31, 2021, at her residence after a long illness. Born in Poestenkill, she was daughter of the late Morris W. Ives and Ethel Chase Ives and wife of the late Edward J. VanWert. 

She was raised in Poestenkill, resided in Brunswick and, for over 30 years, in Pittstown and was a graduate of Troy High School and Mildred Elley School in Albany. Kathryn was the financial secretary for Hope United Methodist Church for many years and was a friend to many in the community. She was a homemaker, loved square dancing and traveling.

Survivors include three sons, James (Susan) VanWert, Oakland, CA, Eric (Karen) VanWert, Frederick, MD and Lawrence (Donna) VanWert, Waynesboro, PA; a daughter, Kathryn (Thomas) Patton, Brunswick; a brother, Robert C. (Joan) Ives, North Greenbush; six grandchildren, Monica Martinez, Ethan VanWert, Thomas Patton, Jacklyn Lindemann, Nicole Ragsdale and Lauren Cotroneo; seven great grandchildren, Max, Eric, Emma, Nicholas. Rosalie, Annalise and Iris, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Morris (Sonny) Ives and a grandson, Justin VanWert. 

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Thursday, June 3, 2021 from 10:30-11:30 AM with a funeral service to follow at 11:30AM with Rev. David Martin, officiating. Face covering and social distancing are required inside during visitation and services.
