Lansingburgh - Julia Ann Aird Wheland, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2021 after a brief illness,
Born in Troy, NY, she was daughter of the late John Aird and Georgia North Aird and wife of the late Chris W. Wheland. A lifelong resident of Troy and was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School and Troy Business College.
Survivors include two sons, John C. (Lynn) Wheland, Round Lake and Glenn C. (Catherine) Wheland, Troy; her grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn Wheland, Chris ‘Bud’ (Amy) Wheland, Lori Lybert (James Heaney), Kristi and Scott Drinkwater and Lindsay Morris (Adam Brennan) and several great grandchildren Timothy, Brady, Mattison, Jacob, Georgia, Margaret, Emily, Leah, Peyton and Tye.
Julie was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Lansingburgh where she served as a Sunday School teacher, was President of the Women's Society and a choir member. She was a Den Mother of Cub Scout Pack 19 B.S.A., Chairman of Local Church activities for 42 years and the Pastor's Assistant. Julia was a current member of the Cornerstone Church.
She was a member of the Leonard Hospital Auxiliary, a board member of the Troy-Cohoes YWCA and a member of the Tuesday Morning Club of Lansingburgh, Ilium Literary Club of Troy and the Troy Woman's Club.
Also active in Apollo Court Order of the Amaranth serving as Royal Matron and District Deputy, Palestine Star Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and Cyrene Temple Daughters of the Nile.
Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 from 10-11AM with a funeral service to follow at 11AM with Rev. David Moore, officiating. Face covering and social distancing are required inside during visitation and services.
Interment will be in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery Schuylerville.
