Troy - Joseph Francis Rooney Jr., 86, died Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center after a brief illness.

Born in Chicago, IL, he was son of the late Joseph F. Rooney Sr. and Ann Owens Rooney and husband for 63 years of Sylvia A. Gonino Rooney. He had resided in Eagle Mills for 55 years and was a graduate of Troy High School.

Joe was an insurance and investment consultant for Prudential Insurance for over 30 years.   

He was a member of the Hendrick Hudson Rod and Gun Club and Saratoga Museum Car Club. Joe was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War stationed in Germany.

Survivors in addition to his wife include a daughter, Louisa (Frank) Sorriento, Troy, a son, Stephen Rooney; two brothers, John T. (Mary Ellen) Rooney, Anaheim Hills, CA and Thomas D. (Phyllis) Rooney, Troy; a brother-in-law, Pasquale Sullo, Latham; sister-in-law Marylyn. Rooney; his grandchildren, Rocco Sorriento, Sylvia (Marcus) Little, Maria E. Sorriento, Joseph (Shrada) Rooney and John Rooney, and three great grandchildren, Miles and Cole Little and Uma Rooney. He was predeceased by a brother, George M. Rooney and a sister, Nancy A. Sullo.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc.  276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 3-6PM with a funeral service to follow at 6PM with Rev. Edward Kacerguis, officiating.

Interment will be in  Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery Schuylerville.
