North Greenbush - John ‘Jack’ H. Markham, 86, died suddenly Saturday, April 23, 2022, at his residence .
Born in Cohoes, he was son of the late Harold Markham and Alice Dufort Markham and husband of the late Patricia A. Windover Markham, the love of his life. He was raised in Watervliet and resided in North Greenbush since 1963 living in the house that he built.
Jack survived and thrived after being run over by an ice truck at the age of 10. As a teenager, he started his career as an auto mechanic at Harold Becker's Garage in Watervliet and left there when he became a father to work for Normanskill Dairy (later known as Crowley Foods) in Albany as a milk delivery man, retiring in 1994 after close to 30 years. He was a top salesman and was very proud of his Driver of the Year Award.
He loved watching NY Yankees baseball and watching Sunday football, going to the Saratoga casino with his son Gary, and playing the horses with his nephew Frankie. He also loved gardening and working around the house planting flowers, relaxing on the porch and watching the deer walking through his yard. Jack looked forward to hosting his high school friend's picnic every summer. He was a self-taught stockbroker and always eager to share his stock tips. Jack was also a very proud Poppy to his two grandchildren, Alissa and Adam.
