Pittstown - John D. Ritrovato Sr., 83, died Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Born in Troy, he was son of the late John N. Ritrovato and Agnes Lohnes Ritrovato and husband for 54 years of Virginia Duncan Ritrovato. He was raised in Troy and Brunswick and resided the past 17 years in Pittstown.

John was a truck driver for the Charles Freihofer Baking Company for 20 years and later worked for the Town of Brunswick.  

He was a member of the Brunswick Lodge of Elks, Emerald Athletic Club and enjoyed fishing, hunting, cars and the NY Yankees.  

Survivors in addition to his wife include his children, John ( Penny VanDeusen) Ritrovato, Jr, Glenmont, Theodore (Bonnie) Ritrovato, Brunswick, Charles J. (Lisa) McCabe, Pittstown, Brad (Tabatha) McCabe, SC and Carrie Ritrovato, Pittstown; 12 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Rutland. 

A celebration of life will be held at a later date at Pittstown United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Knapp, Pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery Wynantskill.
