Averill Park - Johanna Elizabeth (Coughtry) Lake, 88, died Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at St. Peter's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a long illness.
Born in Albany, NY, she was the daughter of the late Leonard Coughtry and Margaretha Bangert Coughtry and wife of the late Francis Paul Lake, Sr. She has resided in Averill Park since 1956. Johanna worked at the National Commercial Bank and Trust, the NYS Office of Attorney General and was a Teacher’s Aide at West Sand Lake Elementary for 12 years.
She was a volunteer at Doors of Hope and St. Henry's Church. She enjoyed gardening and knitting.
Survivors include her 3 children, Francis P. Lake, Jr., Cromwell, CT, Kathleen A. (Bill) Petley, Averill Park, and Mary F. (Ron) Kelsey, Goshen, OH; her grandchildren, Elizabeth (Kyle) Coyer, Andrea (Angela) Petley, Elliott, Iris, Addie, and Noah Kelsey; her great granddaughter, Amelia Coyer; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Margaretha Cunningham.
Relatives and friends may call at the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 4392NY150, West Sand Lake on Friday, February 7, 2025 from 4 - 7PM. Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 10:30AM at the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM at St. Henry's Church, 39 Old Route 66, Averill Park with Rev. John Cronin, Pastor, officiating.
Interment will be in St. Henry's Cemetery, Averill Park in the spring.
