Wynantskill - Joan D. (Malone) Flynn, 72, entered into the loving arms of our Lord on May 27, 2022 surrounded by her family. Joan was born in Troy on June 10, 1949, to the late Thomas J. and Millicent (Comeau) Malone. She is survived by her loving family: Her husband, Charles F. Flynn, Jr. and five children, Kelly (Gerald) Pasinella, Charles Flynn, Patricia (Jason) Adams, Erin (Matthew) Ingold and Christopher (Dianne) Flynn and her eight grandchildren, Alex Flynn, Devin Flynn, Sienna Adams, Lilly Adams, Hannah Flynn, Charlie Flynn, Sophie Flynn, and Avila Ingold. She is also survived by her sister, Patricia (William) Kehn of Troy as well as her nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Catholic Central High School in 1967, Joan cherished being a wife and mother, staying home to raise her five children. Later she would go on to work as a teacher’s aide for special needs children at BOCES and George Washington School. During the years her parents resided at the Eddy in Troy, Joan was devoted to their care, quickly becoming a friend to all and often extending her daily visits to share a smile and kind word to many of the other residents there.
Joan treasured spending time with her children and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed gathering with her family at their camp at Sacandaga Lake and her vacations to Hilton Head.
She was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Troy where she founded and then led the parish’s prayer group for more than 40 years.
Joan’s incredibly strong faith and gentle spirit were both inspiration and light to all who knew her. Her kindness, compassion, counsel, and generosity were limitless and touched the lives of so many. In times both good and bad, Joan led her life faithfully embracing a spirit of deep trust and gratitude, an example by which she will forever be remembered.
The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to Community Hospice and in a special way to Tara Mooradian for their compassionate care for Joan.
