North Greenbush - James Edwin Rogers, 88, died Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at his residence after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Hornell, NY, he was son of the late James Ward Rogers and Anna A. Elwell Rogers and husband of Joanne Engert Rogers, his wife of almost 65 years. He had resided in Averill Park for many years and most recently resided in North Greenbush and earned his Masters Degrees in Education and School Administration from the State University of New York at Albany.
James was a Biology and Chemistry Teacher for the Averill Park Central School District for 30 years retiring in 1994. He never passed up an opportunity to give a scientific answer to a question.
He was a member and past president of Kiwanis Club of Sand Lake, an Adirondack 46er #1409 and a member of the Mayflower Society.
Survivors in addition to his wife include two daughters, Lisa (Fred) Jeschke and Lori (Roy) Buckley; his grandchildren, Tristan Retzke, Erik and Brandon Jeschke, Ray Buckley, Lily (Milos) Sesum and Joseph Buckley; two brothers, Robert Rogers and Larry Rogers and a sister, Dawn (Gary) Cornell.
He was loved and will be missed dearly by his family.
Relatives and friends may call at the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home Inc., 4392 NY150 West Sand Lake on Friday, May 15, 2026 from 3:30-5:30 PM with a funeral service at 5:30PM with Rev. Bill Henderson, officiating.
Interment will be in Memory Gardens Colonie.
