James V. Burt, Sr.

Wynantskill - James V. Burt, Sr., 82, died Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at Samaritan Hospital after a long illness.

Born in North Greenbush, he was son of the late John Alden Burt and Elsie V. Goyer Burt and husband of the late Diane Bashford Burt. He had resided in Troy and Wynantskill all his life and was a graduate of Troy High School. 

Jim worked for Hannigan Electric in Wynantskill for many years and was an owner for several years.  

He was former Chief of the Wynantskill Fire Company, Past Fire Commissioner and the Hendrick Hudson Rod and Gun Club .    

Survivors include a son, James V. Burt, Jr., Wynantskill; a granddaughter, Alexandra Rockwell and a daughter-in-law, Anne Burt.  He was predeceased by a son, Christopher Scott Burt and his siblings, Elmer Burt, Myrtle V. Miller and Nancy Hannigan.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc.  276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Saturday October 7, 2023 from 11-2 PM with a funeral service at 2PM with Rev. Edward  Kacerguis, officiating. 

Interment will be in  Evergreen Cemetery Wynantskill.
