Troy - Jacqueline (Jackie) Haines Zaremba Stickles, 95, passed away on May 12, 2024, with family by her side at Eddy Memorial in Troy.
Born and raised in Hudson, Jackie was the daughter of the late Mary Jane Mather and Charles Haines. Jackie married Chester Zaremba Sr in 1952 and raised three children in New Lebanon. In the 1970’s she took a job running the high school lunch program. Under Jackie’s leadership, it became the only self-supporting student-run school lunch program in the country, earning her an interview with Jane Pauley on the Today Show. Jackie also served as cheerleading coach, which kept her busy after the passing of her husband in 1978. In the early 2000’s, Jackie was reunited with her widowed high school friend Robert Stickles Sr. and they later married. They enjoyed many wonderful years together until his passing in 2017. Jackie was predeceased by her son Jeffrey Zaremba (Mary), and her sister Constance Haines Fingar. She is survived by her children Chester Zaremba Jr (Lisa) and Barbara Zaremba, her grandchildren John Zaremba (Lisa), Justin Zaremba, Julia Zaremba, Rebecca McCarthy (Nathan) and Amanda Zaremba, her great granddaughters Leah and Rose McCarthy, and several nieces and nephews.
