Brunswick Henry J. 'Hank' Hammond Jr., 65, of Menemsha Lane, died Thursday at his residence after a long illness.
Born in Troy, he was son of the late Henry J. Hammond Sr. and Alice Hettie Landfear Hammond and husband of Marilene O. Lewis Hammond. He was raised in Poestenkill and resided in the North Greenbush and Brunswick areas for the past 34 years and attended Troy High School .
Mr. Hammond owned and operated Factory Trained Appliance Service in Brunswick for 30 years, retiring recently due to illness.
He was in the Navy Reserve and was a Staff Sargent and a 22 year veteran in the Army National Guard. He was a Boy Scout leader in Averill Park many years ago and an officer in the first North Greenbush Snowmobile Club in North Greenbush.
Survivors in addition to his wife include two daughters Sherri Wait and her husband Jeffrey of Poestenkill and Darlene Gannon and her husband Kevin of Jacksonville, FL; a son James Hammond and his wife Melissa of Moore, SC; a brother William O. Hammond and his wife Ruth of Troy; a sister Susan A. Santerre of Averill Park and seven grandchildren Jeffrey, Jenelle and Jeanna Wait, Nadine and Kevin Gannon and Jhenyce and Levi Hammond. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Monday at 9:00am from the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. Route 150 West Sand Lake and at 9:30am from St. Henry's Church in Averill Park where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 3-5 and 7-9PM.
Interment Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
