Gwyn W. Thomas

West Sand Lake - Gwyn W. Thomas, passed away December 31, 2024 at Albany Medical Center Hospital after a brief illness.  He was 80 years old.

Born in Rochester, NY, he was the son of the late Evan Gwyn Thomas and Harriet Barber Thomas and husband of Deborah L. Fryc.

Gwyn was a graduate of Bethlehem Central High School and earned a degree from SUNY Plattsburgh.  He was a Marine Corps veteran. Gwyn was employed by the NYS Division of Probation and Correctional Alternatives retiring in 2003.

Gwyn resided in West Sand Lake for the past 45 years and enjoyed engaging in many DIY projects. He also enjoyed the company of his many pet cats over the years.

Survivors in addition to his wife Deborah, include his sister Margot Lucy Thomas, and his nephews Michael (Sara Granstrom) Leyden and Thomas (Melanie) Leyden and his niece, Kathryn (George) Leyden Yund. He was predeceased by his sister, Andrea Leyden.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc.  276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 from 10 - 11AM with a service to follow at 11AM with Rev. Jim Knapp, officiating.

Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery Troy.
