Troy - Gordon Lattey, 85, passed peacefully after a brave effort to stave off multiple health issues. Born December 30, 1937 in Paterson, New Jersey Gordon spent his young years in New Jersey and formative years in Brooklyn.
He graduated from Brooklyn College with a degree in anthropology which certainly formed his view of the world. Gordon spent many years as a travel writer who reported on destinations around the globe and also as a travel magazine editor. He later worked for several New York City public relations firms representing everything from the country of Antigua and the Caribbean, I Love New York, Weight Watchers and many more. In 1989 Gordon relocated to the Capital region and shortly after formed GC&L marketing and developed the NYS Tourism Promotion Agency Council which he managed for 10 years as well as other travel related clients. Gordon’s love of hobbies especially trains and toy soldiers was infectious. And he was also a great sideline coach and cheerleader for all family sports and Navy Football. He was an active communicant of St. Peters Church and a Lay Eucharistic Minister.
Gordon was predeceased by his son Erik and brother Richard. He leaves his wife Michele Vennard and her children Stacey Kirk and husband Matthew, Tim Vennard and wife Jessica and was a dedicated Papa to 5 magnificent grandchildren Evan, Andrew and Sarah Kirk and Tyler and Macen Vennard.
