Gerald 'Jerry' Weaver Obituary

Troy – Jerry Weaver, 71,  died Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at Samaritan Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Troy, he was the son of the late John “Sha” and Bessie Hobbs Weaver. He met the love of his life 44 years ago and has been married to her for over 36 years, Carole Claren-Weaver.

He was a devoted husband and friend to all who knew him. He would always put a smile on your face. He loved the “ponies” and enjoyed his handicapping discussions with his brother Donald.

Jerry served in the United State Coast Guard as a Quartermaster and was a Vietnam War Era veteran. 

Jerry retired from the USPS after 30 years of service. He was the President of the Capital District Area Local for many years covering dozens of post offices. He enjoyed representing his local. 

He was the first lifetime member of the Emerald Athletic Club, member of the CRAB Club as well as the Polish American Club all of Troy.

Jerry enjoyed nearly a decade of family vacations to Long Lake with Carole, his Father-in-law Sonny, his Sister Judy, Brother-in-Law Bill and their sons Ryan and Brett. The past five years were spent in Old Orchard Beach, Maine enjoying the oceanview. Jerry loved all of the holidays spent at Parkers Pub making great family memories.

Survivors in addition to his wife Carole are his siblings; Jack (the late Anne), Bobby (Kris), Donald (Patricia), Nancy Boardman (Bill), Judy Parker (Bill), Larry (Dottie), Patty Lipscomb (Phil). He was predeceased by his brothers, Tommy (the late Barbara), and Dickie as well as his Father and Mother-in-Law Edward “Sonny” and Regina Claren. He is also survived by his cousins and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call at the St. Michael the Archangel Church175 Williams Road Troy on Monday, October10, 2022 from 10AM-1PM with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Edward Kacerguis, to follow at 1PM. 

A private immediate family only graveside service will be held at Brookside Cemetery in Poestenkill.
