Poestenkill - Gerald W. Daniels, 80, died Saturday, April 3, 2021, at Samaritan Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Troy, he was son of the late George Wesley Daniels and Minnie F. Miller Daniels and husband for 55 years of Eleanor ‘Ellie’ Millhouse Daniels. He had resided in Wynantskill for 33 years, Troy for several years and since 2007 in Poestenkill and was a 1960 graduate of Troy High School.
Jerry was employed the past 15 years a Northway Toyota in Latham in the parts department and formerly worked in sales at Pfeiffer’s Auto Supply for 25 years.
He was an avid drag racer, a stock car racing enthusiast, model train collector, had an extensive Dickens Christmas village and loved attending his grandchildren's events and concerts. Jerry enjoyed traveling to the Northeast seacoast and seafood, the West Coast in the fall and winter months and his Saturday summer visits to Snowman Ice Cream in Lansingburgh. He was a member of the Army National Guard.
Survivors in addition to his wife include his children, Barbara Rebhun, Delmar, Dawn (Rocco) Testo, Poestenkill, Joseph (Christina) Daniels, Watervliet and Laura (Donald) Smith, Clifton Park; his siblings, David (Beverly) Daniels, North Carolina, Erle Daniels, Troy, Timothy Daniels, Clifton Park and Nancy (James) Wittemer, Troy; six grandchildren, Nicholas Testo, Taylor Daniels, Jessica and Alyssa Rebhun, Kyle Daniels and Morgan Smith and several nieces , nephews and granddogs. He was predeceased by a brother, Harold Daniels.
Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Thursday, April 8, 2021 from 10-11AM with a funeral service to follow at 11AM with Pastor Judy Converse, officiating. Face covering and social distancing are required both outside and inside during visitation and services.
Interment will be in Center Brunswick Cemetery Center Brunswick.
The family would like to thank the nurses of the Samaritan Hospital ICU, room 208 for their loving care.
