Troy - George F. Hathaway, 96, passed peacefully Sunday, April 2, 2023, at the Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Sarasota, FL.
Born in Westfield, MA, he was son of the late Martha Beaton Hathaway and husband of the late Betty Wagar Hathaway and longtime partner of Patricia Mangene. He was raised in Springfield, MA, then Grafton and many years in the Troy area.
George was employed at Norton Company and later Nashua Corp. in Watervliet as a Tape Coater Operator for many years and retired in April of 1991.
He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and Elks and enjoyed playing golf, fishing and camping at Higley Flow in Colton, NY and Glimmerglass in Cooperstown, NY.
George was a Navy veteran of World War II and a strong supporter of the Paralyzed Veterans of America.
Survivors include a daughter, Laurie Hathaway VanDenHouten (Shawn) Nassau; a son, Donald Beauregard (Hathaway) (Mary), Valley Falls; his grandchildren, T.J., Kaitlynn, Roy IV, Robert and Tim and his great grandchildren, Brayden, Roy V and Scarlet. He was predeceased by his son, George T. Hathaway; his grandson, Jon Luke Beauregard and several siblings.
Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Friday, April 14, 2023 from 10AM- 12 Noon with a funeral service at 12 noon with Rev. Karyl Hopp, officiating.
Interment will be at the Eagle Mills Cemetery Eagle Mills.
