West Sand Lake - Gary B. Hack, 70, of Route 150 died Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Samaritan Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Troy, he was son of the late Charles E. Hack and Agnes Olbert Hack and husband for 48 years of Jerry L. Siler. He was raised in Averill Park and resided in West Sand Lake for 45 years and was a graduate of Averill Park High School and Hudson Valley C.C. before entering military service for U.S. Navy. His active service lasted from 1971-73 followed by three more years in the reserves completed in 1976. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.
Gary was in R&D as an Electrical Engineering Tech for Benet Labs at the Watervliet Arsenal for 34 years, retiring in 2005.
He spent time with the zoning board in Sand Lake along with coaching his sons and others in youth sports. Throughout life he enjoyed spending time on the golf course and using his hands through construction and woodworking.
He was an active communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Troy and director for its food pantry program for 10yrs.
Survivors in addition to his wife include two sons, Shaine Hack, Queens, NY and Cory Hack, along with daughter-in-law, Dianna (DeeDee) of Hollis Center, ME and a sister-in-law, Mary Hack, nieces and nephews, Jeff, Brian and Colleen. He was predeceased by two brothers, Charles R. Hack and Richard F. Hack.
Funeral service is private at the convenience of the family.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Troy.
