Brunswick - Gary J. Film, 78, died Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at his residence, after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Elmer Film, Sr. and Mae C. Hook Film. Husband of 37 years to Theresa M. Baker Film. He was raised and resided in Brunswick all his life. He was a 1964 graduate of Tamarac High School.
Gary worked for the Town of Brunswick in the highway department for 32 years. During that time, he spent 10 years as highway supervisor. In addition to that, he was also a security guard for Emma Willard School for 37 years.
He was an avid antique car enthusiast and loved attending as many car shows as he could. He also took great pride in maintaining his property. He particularly loved mowing his lawn, every 3 days, whether it needed it or not. He enjoyed reminiscing about his memorable times and experiences he had at the Town of Brunswick, particularly his snowplowing and paving days from years past.
Survivors in addition to his wife include, his son, Jonathan (Katherine) Film of Wynantskill; Grampy to Nolan and Carson Film; a brother, Anson (Rose) Film, Brunswick; a sister-in-law, Hildegard Film; a brother-in-law, Emory Maddocks; a friend of many and survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Elmer Film, Jr., Carol (Jim) Lawless and Marlene Maddocks.
There will be no services per Gary’s request.
