Gail Manning Obituary

Colonie - Gail J. (Mossey) Manning passed away on June 18, 2026, after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family. She was 88.

Gail was born in Schenectady on July 22, 1937, to the late Lester and Blanche Mossey. She was a graduate of St. Peter’s School of Nursing and spent more than 40 years working as a nurse in the Capital Region, completing her career at Albany Memorial Hospital.

Gail married the love of her life, David P. Manning, Jr., on April 23, 1960. Together, they shared 55 wonderful years and raised their family in Wynantskill. Over the years, Gail enjoyed camping with her family in the Adirondacks, Myrtle Beach, Maine, and, later, Aransas Pass, Texas, where she and Dave enjoyed their retirement before she returned to the Capital Region.

Gail was a devoted mother who taught her children to be strong and, most importantly, to cherish the importance of family. Quick-witted and never afraid to speak her mind, Gail expressed her love through her many talents, creating wedding gowns, quilts, crocheted pieces, and countless batches of her beloved chocolate chip cookies.

After the passing of her husband, David P. Manning, Jr., in 2015, Gail returned to Wynantskill. She spent the next 10 years cherishing time with her greatest treasures: her children, Michele (Timothy) Kronau, Marguerite (Peter) McMillen, and Joseph (Jill) Manning; and the loving memory of her son, David P. Manning III.

She is also survived by her nine grandchildren, Patrick Manning, Eric (Maurica) Manning, Peter and Matthew Kronau, Joseph (Melanie) McMillen, Taylor (Tina) McMillen, Jessica (Brian) Pesavento, and Jordan and Jenna Manning; and eight great-grandchildren, Grace, Braxton and McKenna Manning, and Declan, Gavin, Sawyer, Aven, and Austin McMillen. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Denise Manning, brother-in-law, Darryl (Becky) Manning, and several nieces and nephews.

Gail was predeceased by her loving husband, David P. Manning, Jr.; her son, David P. Manning III; her brother, Lester (Claire) Mossey; her sister, Arlene (Joseph) DiCerbo; and her in-laws, David (Gladys) Manning and Dwight (Linda) Manning.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 43 Brookside Avenue, Wynantskill, NY, on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 10:30 a.m.  Family and friends are invited to join in celebrating Gail’s life and the many ways she touched those around her.

The family would like to thank the staff at Shaker Place Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for their loving and compassionate care.
