Francis Fleming Obituary

Brunswick - We are sad to announce the passing of Francis P. Fleming, a long-time resident of Averill Park, who passed away peacefully in his home at age 85 on February 25, 2023.

He was born in Troy on November 17, 1937, and was the son of William and Florence Fleming. He was the loving husband of Angela Pitaniello of 65 years, whom he married on February 2, 1958 and raised four daughters with. He grew up in Poestenkill on the family farm with his three sisters. Frank graduated from La Salle Institute in Troy and went on to work at Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation for 37 years where he made long-standing friendships. Frank retired in 1994 and focused his energy on creating treasured memories with his family and friends.

Frank was an avid skier, and could be found at Bromley Mountain, VT in the winter where he held season passes and worked as a chairlift operator. He was a member of Burden Lake Country Club where he would spend time playing a few rounds of golf with his wife, his grandsons, and his friends. He was an involved member of local politics for more than three decades where he served as the Chairman of the Sand Lake Democratic Committee, as well as, a political advisor to many.

Frank’s humorous outlook on life was his most well-known quality, as he spent a lot of time trying to get a laugh from others. He was always ready with a joke on hand for those who needed it, and was often found pranking his family and friends whenever the opportunity would arise. He looked forward to his weekly card nights, as well as, grabbing a cup of coffee at the local shops to catch up with “the guys.” Frank loved working around his house, mowing his lawn and driving around his tractor. He was a family man who’s pride and joy were his daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren. One of his most recent favorite pastimes was sitting in a chair and watching all of his great grandchildren playing around him. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him, and especially by his family.

Frank is survived by his four daughters, Carmela Kanellis (Constantine Sr.), Flora Fasoldt (Thomas), Gina Wilkins, Angela Teal (Darin); his 7 grandchildren, Kalan Fasoldt (Samuel Taylor), Constantine Kanellis Jr. (Megan), Hayden Wilkins (Elena Ooms), Matthew Fasoldt (Kayla), Hanna Bermas (Michael), Andrew Fasoldt (Kristen), and Nicholas Teal; his 8 great grandchildren with one on the way; and his three sisters, Justine Amadon (William), Adelaide Schepis (John), and Paula Doherty (Douglas).
