Floyd Timber, Jr. Obituary

Wynantskill - Floyd Timber Jr., 88, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Eddy Heritage House Nursing Center.

Floyd was born on September 14, 1935 in Troy, NY and was the son of the late Floyd Timber Sr. and Katherine Snyder Timber. He was the devoted husband of over 66 years to Christa Ellsasser Timber who he met in Frankfurt, Germany while serving in the US Army and married in 1957. Floyd graduated from Averill Park High School in 1953 and resided in Wynantskill for over 60 years. He was a communicant of St. Henry’s Church in Averill Park, NY.

Floyd was a 37 year employee of Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation and began his much deserved retirement in 1994.

He was a voracious reader of fiction, an interest he picked up from his high school librarian, oftentimes reading several books each week. He was an avid sports fan, mostly football, and would travel throughout his local area to watch high school football games. He enjoyed long walks and logged many miles throughout his neighborhood where he would often stop to chat with folks along the way. Floyd loved to travel throughout the United States and back to Germany to visit Christa’s family. Building memories through their many travels was a priority to him. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and visiting with friends. He had many wonderful memories of trips with just his wife Christa and their grandchildren, who he adored, to the seashore and beyond.

Floyd leaves behind the legacy of a wonderful family and a life well lived. Survivors in addition to his beloved wife, Christa, include his 4 sons, Michael Timber, VA, Steven Timber, Rensselaer, William Timber, North Adams, and Robert (Sandy) Timber, Valatie; his grandchildren, Kristie (Eduardo) Gonzalez, Joshua (Eva) Timber, Matthew (Emily) Timber, Brian Timber, and Brittany (Garrett) Bonesteel; his great grandchildren, Benjamin, Maya, Enzo, Wesley and Bentley; his sister, Mary Brewer; and his daughter-in-laws, Kathleen Timber and Trudy Timber. He was predeceased by his grandson, William Timber.
