Evelyn M. Hilt

Troy - Evelyn M. Hanna Hilt, 91, died Monday, February 16, 2026, at Eddy Heritage House Nursing Center after a long illness.

Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late Edward Hanna and Alice Burgess Hanna and wife of the late George E Hilt, Sr. She had resided in Troy all her life and was a 1952 graduate of Catholic Central High School.        

Evelyn was employed by the Appleknocker in Albia, Blue Cross, Cluett, Peabody & Company, and La Valleys Meat Market.   She was a homemaker for most of her life.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of Victory and a Eucharistic Minister for 27 years. Evelyn was a member of the Cub and Boy Scouts committee for 23 years and AARP. She loved gardening, needlepoint, playing cards and raising her family. She had a love for food and eating. 

Survivors include her children, George E. Hilt, Jr., Schenectady, Timothy Hilt, Troy, Debra (Mike) Kross, Schenectady, Gary (Crystie) Hilt, Nassau and Dennis Hilt, Troy; her grandchildren, Jason and Jeffrey Kross, Kevin and Sean Hilt, Kenneth and Danielle Hilt and David Hilt; two great grandchildren, Robert Elijah and Shirley Evelyn Hilt; two sisters-in-law, Marilyn Hanby and Ruth Gorham and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a son, Kenneth Hilt; a sister, Loretta Eates and a brother, Edward Hanna.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc.  276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Saturday, February 21, 2026 from 10-11AM followed by a service at 11AM by Rev. Ed Kacerguis.

Interment will be in  St. Peter's Cemetery Troy.
