Eugene "Droop" P. Rescott

West Sand Lake - Eugene P. “Droop” Rescott, 90, died Sunday, November 26, 2023, at his residence after a long illness.

Born in West Sand Lake, he was son of the late Clyde W. Rescott and Eunice L. Rescott and husband of the late Shirley C. Collins Rescott. He had resided in West Sand Lake all his life and was a graduate of Averill Park High School. 

Gene was a telephone installer for Western Electric and later worked for New York Power and Light, now  NYSEG for 35 years, retiring as a Chief Lineman in 1993.  

He was a member of the Tremont #115 Race Team for many years and loved hunting and fishing.  He enlisted in the Navy Reserve in high school and later enlisted in the Air Force from 1953-56, serving in a Troop Carrier Unit in Southern Japan, The Philippines and Okinawa. 

Survivors include two daughters, Nancy A. (Michael) Mason, Mechanicville and Jill S. Rescott, CO; a son, Theodore J. Rescott, West Sand Lake; 4 grandchildren, Samuel J. and Shawna C. Mason and Jeremy E. and Slater Sabo; two sisters, Pauline (Dennis) Green, Houston, TX and Eunice Rescott, White River Junction, VT; several nieces and nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by his siblings, Clyde W.  Rescott Jr., Marion Sagendorf, Phyllis Rescott and Frederick Rescott.

Relatives and friends may call at the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 4392NY150 West  Sand Lake on Friday, December 1, 2023  from 4-7PM with a funeral service at 7PM. 

Interment will be in  Brookside Cemetery Brunswick.
