Ernestine C. (Berthiaume) Plumley

Latham  -   Ernestine C. Plumley (Berthiaume), 88 died peacefully, Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Samaritan Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Cohoes, NY she was the daughter of the late Ernest Berthiaume and Stella Suspanic Berthiaume and the late John Plumley and significant other of John Gleason. She was raised in Cohoes resided for many years in Wynantskill and most recently in Latham. She was a graduate of Keveny Memorial Academy and Hudson Valley Community College. Ernestine was employed by Rensselaer County Employment and Training. After retiring, she volunteered at Rensselaer County Hospice for 10 years; helping those in need.

Our Mom lived a life defined by kindness, strength, compassion and devotion to her family.  She was the matriarch of our home, the person we could always and forever count on for comfort, wisdom and unconditional love. 

She is survived by her 7 children John Plumley, Daniel Plumley, Matthew (Kelly Wehnau) Plumley, Tina (Mark) Mann, Dawn (Jay) Hamel, Timothy (Laura Bartnick) Plumley, and Ernest Plumley; her grandchildren, Karlee (Dom) Marinello, Alysha (Matt) Davey, Nick (Abigail) Plumley, Taylor and Zachary Mann, Jake Plumley and Ty Plumley and her great grandchildren, JJ, Ava, Brooks, Sophia, Harlow and Lola. She was special God Mother to Erin Cavanaugh.

She also leaves behind her lifelong best friends, Barbara Cavanaugh and Shirley Naples as well as her dearest neighbors Mary Jane, Sr. Pat and Sr. Marilyn. 

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in all the memories our Mom has given us and the love she leaves behind. Her legacy will live on through her family, and all who were fortunate enough to know and love her. 

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the emergency department, doctors, nurses and all the wonder staff at Samaritan Hospital (6TH Floor) for their compassionate care and kindness.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Monday, June 1, 2026 from 10AM-1PM with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 2PM at Our Lady of Assumption Church 498 Watervliet - Shaker Road Latham with Rev. Thomas Fallati.

Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery Waterford.
