The Mass of Christian Burial celebrated February 16, 2024 at Sacred Heart Church.
Troy - Ellen Mary Quigley Baker, 77, died Sunday, February 11, 2024, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family after a long illness.
Born in Cohoes, she was daughter of the late Bernard J. Quigley and Stella Jackson Quigley and wife for 54 years of Gary Michael Baker. She was a lifelong resident of Cohoes and Troy. Ellen was a graduate of Keveny Memorial Academy in Cohoes and earned her RN from St. Peter's School of Nursing in 1966.
Ellen was a Registered Nurse for St. Peter's Hospital, Capital Cardiology and Capital Skin in Halfmoon, retiring in 2007. She also worked several years at Barna's Superette on Campbell Avenue in Troy.
She was on the Board of Classie Lassie Girls Softball and was an active communicant of Sacred Heart Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister and member of the choir. Ellen enjoyed knitting, crocheting and baking. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Woman's Cancer Care Associates, St. Peter's and Samaritan Hospitals, Eddy Visiting Nurses especially Tracey and The Community Hospice of Rensselaer County.
Survivors in addition to her husband include two daughters, Bridget (Scott) Bidwell and Erin Baker (Daniel Sorensen); five grandchildren, Ruby Sorensen, Paige Bidwell, Elke and Iver Sorensen and Cameron Bidwell and leaves behind her beloved cats, Daisy and Bashful.
Relatives and friends may call at the Sacred Heart Church 475 Pawling Avenue Troy on Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 4-7 PM.
Funeral service will be held Friday, February 16, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church 475 Pawling Avenue Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. John Yanas, Pastor.
Interment will be in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery Schuylerville.
