Edward Kehn, Sr. Obituary

Brunswick - Edward J. Kehn, Sr., 89, died August 8, 2022, at Samaritan Hospital Troy.

Born in Troy, September 18, 1932, he was son of the late Chester J. Kehn and Charlotte A. Davis Kehn and husband for 67 years of Maureen Farrell Kehn. He was raised in Lansingburgh and resided a short time in Rochester and Poughkeepsie before moving back to the Troy area in 1969 and was a graduate of Catholic Central High School, class of 1951 and Albany Business College. 

Ed was owner and CEO of Wells Communications in North Greenbush, Plattsburgh and Watertown since 1969.  Previously, he worked  for NY Telephone Company in Troy and Motorola C&E in Troy, Rochester and Poughkeepsie.

He was Past President of the New York State Association of Fire Chiefs, Past President of Speigletown Fire Dept.. Served 35 years as Volunteer Firefighter, Past Rensselaer County Fire Coordinator, Past President Wynantskill Kiwanis Club, a member of the Knights of Columbus — Council No. 12937 St. Jude the Apostle Parish, 4th Degree Knight — Monsignor Arthur J Reilly Assembly 1915. He was a Boy Scout and Explorer In Troop 8, at St Augustine's School in Lansingburgh, he was awarded the Boy Scouts of America "GOOD SCOUT AWARD". Also received the "FRANK W. KENNEDY MEMORIAL AWARD" from the Lansingburgh Boys & Girls Club. In 1983 Ed received the "CAPITAL DISTRICT SMALL BUSINESS ACHIEVEMENT AWARD" Presented by The School of Business of the State of New York at Albany and The Capital District Business Review.

He enjoyed boating on Lake Champlain for many years. He was also a car enthusiast (CAR GUY), had several classic Cadillac's and Mercedes over the years. He enjoyed working at his profession as a Business Manager. Ed started working, part time, at age 16 when in High School and worked all of his life. He worked for everything that he ever had, inherited nothing, except for his work ethics from his parents.  Ed was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors in addition to his wife include a son, Edward J. Kehn, Jr. , FL; a daughter, Maureen P. (Michael) Milanese, Plattsburgh; a daughter-in-law, Stephanie Kehn; his grandchildren, Michele (Stephen) Scarff, Lindsy (Ethan) Marshall, Ashley (Jon) Hilton, Carrie Lynn (Jon Desrocher) Fountain and Anthony Milanese; his great grandchildren, Isabella Scarff, Grady and Lucas Hilton, Michaela ‘Mickey’ Marshall and Liam Desrocher and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a son, Michael J. Kehn; a sister, Diane Kehn McHargue and a brother,  Richard Kehn.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 from 4-7PM. 

Funeral service will be held Thursday at 10AM at St. Jude the Apostle Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Patrick Rice, Pastor.

Inurnment will be Thursday at 1PM at Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery Schuylerville.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Edward J. Kehn to the St. Jude the Apostle School Brookside Avenue Wynantskill, NY 12198 or Catholic Central High School Scholarship Fund 625 Seventh Avenue Troy, NY 12182.
