West Sand Lake - Edward A. Hamilton, 91, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2024, surrounded by family at Samaritan Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in West Sand Lake, he was the son of the late Edith Marion Snyder Hamilton and the husband of the late Althea E. Kampf Hamilton. A lifelong resident of West Sand Lake, Ed graduated from Averill Park High School in 1951 and earned his Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from Duke University.
After graduating, Ed served over a decade as an Air Force pilot, including six years of active duty. After the service, Ed worked as a professional engineer for Niagara Mohawk for 35 years.
He was an active member of Salem United Methodist Church in West Sand Lake, where he served as a Trustee and a member of the Church Council. Ed enjoyed skiing, golf, and hunting.
Survivors include his son, Edward G. Hamilton (JoAnna) of Simsbury, CT; his daughter, Carol Robinson (George) of Duanesburg, NY; and two grandchildren, Gregory Joseph Hamilton of Simsbury, CT, and Cassandra Althea Robinson of Duanesburg, NY. He was predeceased by his grandson, Johnathan Edward Hamilton, and two siblings, Richard P. Hamilton and Marion Corinne Wales.
Relatives and friends may call at the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home, Inc., 4392 NY-150, West Sand Lake, on Friday, December 20, 2024, from 4–6 PM.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 1 PM at Salem United Methodist Church, Shaver Road, West Sand Lake, with Rev. Kristi Van Patten, Pastor, and Rev. Dr. Patricia Bush, Former Pastor, officiating.
Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, West Sand Lake.
