Donna J. (Murray) Williams

Mechanicville - Donna J. Murray Williams, 74, died Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at St. Peter's Hospital after a long illness.

Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late Francis J. Murray and Elizabeth Carney Murray Rooney and wife for 53 years of Douglas V. Williams. She was raised in Troy, resided in Wynantskill for 28 years and most recently in Mechanicville for the past 6 years and was a graduate of Hudson Valley Community College.

Donna was a dealer representative for the former Garden Way, Inc. for 15 years, retiring 16 years ago. Later, she was a self-employed floral arranger and wedding planner.

She enjoyed boating and golf and was a member of the Red Hat Society and Ladies of Charity.   

Donna was more than happy to be the central figure in the lives of her children anyone who knew them knew that she was a star in their eyes and that’s all that ever really mattered to her.  Donna was blessed with three granddaughters who she completely adored and her most favorite thing was spending as much time as she could with them.  Donna spent her time and energy making sure her family was happy from cooking all of the holiday and birthday dinners or just spending time at home with the family as long as all her children and grandchildren were present, then she was happy and content. She was also known to be the life of the party especially after a couple glasses of wine and you would often hear her husband telling her it was time to go and her response was always just a few more minutes.  People were drawn to her because of her big bright personality. Her laugh was infectious and her smile would light up the room. She was someone that everyone just wanted to be around. She is gone but will never be forgotten. There is no doubt that her mother, Betty, was waiting for her to welcome her into the gates of heaven. 

Survivors in addition to her husband include her children, Douglas J. (Jennifer) Williams, East Greenbush, Darcy L. Williams, Saratoga Springs and Derrick F. Williams, Mechanicville and three grandchildren, Madison and Emma Kancyr and Chloe Elizabeth Williams.

Relatives and friends may call, Monday, January 3, 2022, at Sacred Heart Church 475 Pawling Avenue Troy from 10-11:30AM with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:30AM with Rev. John Yanas, Pastor. Face covering and social distancing are required.

Interment will be in  St. Mary's Cemetery Troy.
