Brunswick - Donald J McBain, 91, died Wednesday, July 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving family after leading a very productive life.
Born in Watervliet, he was the son of the late Edward McBain and Mary Johnson McBain and husband of the late Virginia Margaret Kelly McBain for 57 years. He was raised in Watervliet and started his family in Cohoes before moving to Brunswick. He was a graduate of Watervliet High School and after serving two years in the Korean War then became a Master Electrician with IBEW Local 438.
Don owned and operated McBain Electric for 30 years and retired for 20 years to spend more time with his grandchildren.
He enjoyed long distance running and golfing in many leagues including the Misfit League. He was a member of AA for decades and was instrumental for the recovery of many individuals. He also participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
Survivors include his children Kathleen (Dan) Rogers, Wynantskill, Donna (Jeff) Adams, Troy, Donald “Jay” (Jacqueline) McBain, Troy, Laurie McBain, Albany, Caroline (Chris) Busch, Wynantskill, and Scott (Stacy) McBain, Clifton Park. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and his sister-in-law Barbara O’Brien and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Jack and Edward McBain, his brother-in-law Gerald O’Brien and sister -in -law Maureen McBain.
Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, 276 Pawling Avenue, Troy, on Monday, July 22nd from 5-7PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated on Tuesday at Sacred Heart Church, Troy at 10AM with Rev. John Yanas, Pastor, officiating
Interment will be in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery Schuylerville, Tuesday at 12:30PM.
