David Snyder, Sr. Obituary

Wynantskill - David A. Snyder, Sr. , 78, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2021 at St. Peter’s Hospital after a long illness.

Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Philip and Ann (Fus) Snyder. He is predeceased by his brother, Phil.

Dave was the owner and operator of Walter Snyder Printer, Inc. in Troy, for all his adult life. He was well regarded among his peers. After slowing down a bit, Dave enjoyed fishing and boating on Lake George. He and his wife Emogene enjoyed wintering in Hobe Sound, Florida, where he leaves behind many friends.

Dave was always active in his community, from Troy Youth Hockey, baseball, the Kiwanis Club of Wynantskill and the Troy Lodge of Elks. Dave and Emogene traveled the world and had wonderful stories to share about their adventures.

He was a true family man who was always involved with his 4 very busy children. He worked incredibly hard to provide for them.

David was a master woodworker and enjoyed spending time in his woodshop creating beautiful furniture that his family will treasure.

Dave will be missed by many in the business community, a host of friends but mostly by his family. He was truly a pillar of strength.

Dave is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Emogene (Schillinger) Snyder. He was the devoted father to David Snyder Jr. of Averill Park, Dona (Tim) Reardon of Poestenkill, Dean (Kelly) Snyder of Malta and Darrin Snyder of Sand Lake. He was the loving “papa” to Heather (Matt) Bryan, Carissa Snyder, Alexandrea (Ken) Cushman, Jeremy and Jacklyn Snyder, Garett and Brian Reardon, Gillian and Brennan Snyder. He is also survived by four great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
