Wynantskill – Daniel J. Koenig, 72, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Donald Koenig Sr., the late Theresa Koenig, and the stepson of the late John R. Inco. He was the loving husband of Karen Costello Koenig for 39 years. Daniel resided in Wynantskill and graduated from Shaker High School.
Daniel retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1996 as a Master Sergeant after 26 years of service. He worked at Tek Hughes in Watervliet for 25 years, before retiring from Green Mountain Coffee in 2012. He was a proud member of the Watervliet-Colonie Elks Club and a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Church in North Greenbush. Daniel enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, his cherished pets, and traveling to visit family.
In addition to his wife, Daniel is survived by a son, Jeffrey (Carrie) Koenig; a daughter, Kristen (Chuck Wojton) Koenig; two granddaughters, Adriana and Brielle Koenig; his siblings, Donna (the late Alfred) Surprenant and Kimberly (Victor) Santore; his in-laws, Cynthia Herrington (Loren), as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Daniel was predeceased by his brothers, Donald (the late Rose) Koenig Jr. and John (Deborah) Koenig, and his brother-in-law, Jack (Sharon) Costello.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc., 276 Pawling Avenue, Troy, on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 9:30 AM at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Williams Road, Troy.
Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Brunswick Road, Troy.
