Constance Mason Obituary

TROY - Constance B. Mason, 100, formerly of West Sand Lake, went home to be with Jesus Christ, her Savior, on December 23, 2021. In Heaven she joins her husband, Julian R. Mason; her son, Richard A. Mason; her parents, Catherine and Andrew Bergmann; and her brother, William A. Bergmann.

Connie was born in Brooklyn, NY. She graduated from Samuel J. Tilden High School and later from Berkeley-Llewellyn Secretarial School in Manhattan. She held secretarial positions at several organizations, including the Glens Falls Indemnity Company in Manhattan, the Salvation Army headquarters in Albany, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and most recently with the Averill Park Central School District.

Service to others was an important part of Connie’s life, and she was a volunteer in several organizations, including the Ladies Auxiliary to the V.F.W., where she was a life member and past president; Four Doors Down in her home village of West Sand Lake; First Presbyterian Church of Brunswick; and at The Eddy in Troy.

Her faith and her family were Connie’s priorities. Facing many joys and sorrows in her life, Connie trusted in her Lord always. Her prayers were for family, friends, and all in need.

Connie will be greatly missed by her family: daughter and son-in law, Catherine and Charles Sullivan; grandson, Timothy Sullivan, and his wife Atsuko Ichinohe Kasai of Tokyo, Japan; granddaughter, Constance Sullivan of Oregon; daughter-in-law Sandra Laurenzo Mason; niece and God-daughter Doreen Bergmann. Connie also was part of her husband’s family and extended family, caring for them as she did for her own family and keeping in touch with them over the years and generations. Connie was blessed with friends who held a special place in her heart.

For those wishing to honor Connie, her family suggests a donation to Connie’s home church, First Presbyterian Church of Brunswick (42 White Church Lane, Troy, NY 12180), or to The Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center, where Connie received good care from many wonderful people during the past several years (E.M.G.C. Employee Assistance Fund, 2256 Burdett Avenue, Troy, NY 12180; attn: Anthony Gianotti).

All are welcome to attend a Memorial Service for Connie on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at 2 pm, at the Brunswick Presbyterian Church, 42 White Church Lane, Troy, NY 12180. Pastor Bill Henderson will officiate. A reception will follow the service. The family requests that masks be worn. Interment will be private.
