Cheryl D. Whitney

Watervliet - Cheryl D. Whitney, 70, formerly of East Poestenkill died Friday, July 23, 2021, at Samaritan Hospital.

Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Harold Whitney and Marion H. Russell Whitney.  She attended Averill Park High School and earned her Licensed Practical Nurse degree from Central Technology in Syracuse.

Cheryl was an LPN for the Jewish Home of CNY in Syracuse where she was a charge nurse.

She loved God, bingo, talking with her family and dancing in the rain.  

Survivors include her 4 children, Pamela (Martin) Hand, Syracuse, Allen (Michaele) Southard, Castleton, Rebecca Frass, Syracuse, and Scott (Meranda) Frass, Troy; her grandchildren, Tara, Gregory, Alison, Mariah, Corey, Sarah, Secoya, Destiny, Shatiq, and Brayden; 6  great grandchildren; her siblings,  Joan (Lloyd) Schiesser, Troy, Colleen Smith, Pocahontas, TN, Keith Whitney, Poestenkill, Brian (Shelia) Whitney, East Poestenkill,  Iola Pratt, Watervliet, Jody Whitney, Pocahontas, TN, Arthur (Linda) Whitney, East Poestenkill, Greg (Lois) Whitney, Brunswick, Timothy (Anna) Whitney, Hornsby, TN, and Bruce Whitney, East Poestenkill.   She was predeceased by her siblings, Lucretia "Lucky" Ballard and Joel Whitney and a grandson, Michael.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc.  276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Wednesday July 28, 2021 from 9-11 AM with a funeral service at 11AM with Rev. Pamela Hoh, officiating. Face covering and social distancing are required if not vaccinated.

Interment will be in Elmwood Hill Cemetery Troy.
