East Greenbush - Charles ‘Chuck’ R. Alger, 80, died suddenly Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at his residence.
Born in Troy, he was son of the late Andring and Martha L. Bulson Essegian. He was raised in Troy , was a graduate of Troy High School and resided in East Greenbush since 1976.
Chuck was a retired computer operator for the NYS Division of State Police.
Chuck was a Marine Corps Veteran of the Vietnam war. He was a volunteer at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery Wednesday Squad and a member of the East Greenbush American Legion, Melvin Roads Post 1231, life member of the East Greenbush Volunteer Fire Department #3 North Station, a Mason for 40 years and an Ambassador at Albany International Airport.
Survivors include his daughter, Polly Alger, Lowell, NC, son of his heart, Mark (Kristin) Smith and his “grandchildren”, Grady and Callen and his sister, Lorraine (Richard) Carlson, Gloversville, NY. Chuck enjoyed every holiday with his extended Carlson family and birthday celebrations with his ever loving, fun filled Phillips cousins.
While Chuck enjoyed many years as a bingo volunteer, he met the love of his life, Patty Fisher. They spent their days together enjoying life’s simple pleasures.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a military graveside service on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at 10:30AM at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery 200 Duell Road Schuylerville. Please arrive at the main gate by 10:15.
