Catherine "Katie" A. (Pitanillo) Kuentzel

Troy - Catherine “Katie” Ann Kuentzel, 85, died Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at her residence after a long illness surrounded by her daughters.

Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late Jerry F. Pitanillo and Mary Teta Pitanillo and wife of the late Kenneth G.  Kuentzel. She had resided in Troy all her life and attended Catholic Central High School and was a graduate of Orlo Beauty School in Albany. 

Katie was employed many years ago at the Carl Company and for several years was a self employed hairdresser.   

She enjoyed bingo, cooking, decorating her home, was an avid card player and spending time with her grandchildren.  
Survivors include her two daughters,  Donna M. (Mark) Wilde, Troy and Karen A. (Shahbaz) Ahmad, Thousand Oaks, CA; her grandchildren, Kiersten and Stephen Wilde, Briana and Gabrielle Ahmad and Anasha (Andrew) Dayman; a great granddaughter, Aria Luna Dayman; a sister, Geraldine Montello; a brother, Jerry (Cate) Pitanillo; three nephews, Jerry Montello and Jerry and Jason Pitanillo and a niece, Sarah Pitanillo and several grand nieces and nephews. 

Relatives and friends may call Saturday from 9-10 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Church 28 State Street Troy with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10AM. 

Interment will be in  St. Mary's Cemetery Troy.
