Caroline Wilcox Obituary

Broadalbin - Caroline Jeanne Wilcox, 87, died Sunday, May 31, 2026, after a brief illness.

Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Valmore Oulette and Dorothy LaDue Oulette and wife of the late Ronald David Wilcox, Sr.

She was a graduate of Heatley High school, SUNY Farmingdale, New York class of 1959 and Empire State College class of 1997.

Caroline was the owner and proprietor of Caroline’s Ceramics, a Comp Controller for the Rensselaer County Health Department, for the City of Troy, and a project manager for New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance from 1997 until her retirement in 2008.

She was on the board of the Commission on Economic Opportunity in Troy, as well as Rensselaer County Republican Committee Chairman’s club.

Caroline lived 87 years and didn’t waste a minute of her life to say she lived her life to the fullest is an understatement. She was the life of every gathering, and the person who could make everyone feel welcome the moment they arrived. Her laughter was contagious. Her stories, unforgettable, and her presence brought people together in a way that few ever can. She created a sense of family that extended far beyond all of her friends, acquaintances and loved ones, she made everyone feel connected, loved and at home. She loved to paint, loved going bowling and joined numerous leagues. She loved to summer in Sacandaga where her spirit will forever live on around every campfire. She wintered in Hudson, Florida, where she made friends within her community, often spending Wednesday and Friday nights, playing cards and dice and enjoying her driveway parties. She was a die-hard Republican who loved her country and was the most patriotic person you’ll ever meet. You may not have agreed with her politics, but you sure didn’t mind listening to her talk about it. She was the light, the laughter, and the glue that held everyone together. She will always be in the hearts of all who were ever lucky enough to know her.

Survivors include her son, Michael (Michelle) Wilcox, Schuylerville, NY; her grandson, Justin Wilcox, Spring Lake, NC; her brother, Russell Oulette, PA; her aunt, Leona (Ron) Monforte, CT; and several cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and countless friends. She was predeceased by her son, Ronald David Wilcox Jr; her daughter, Valerie J. Brehm and a brother, Robert Oulette.
