Carole T. (Williams) Canfield

NORTH GREENBUSH - Carole Williams Canfield, loving wife for 59 years of Robert J. Canfield, devoted mother of Robert “Rob” J. Canfield  (Joanne Downs) of Manassas VA, and Michael S. Canfield of Troy, NY passed away, Tuesday, February 24, 2026.  She was the daughter of the late Joseph M. and Mary Paul Brunelle Williams formerly of Niskayuna.

Carole was sister of Diane Girard, Union, KY, Louise (Edward) Ruth, Sanford, NC and Michele Pietroniro of NH; sister-in-law of Kathy Williams and survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Dennis Williams and a brother-in-law, John Girard. 
  
Carole worked for 20 years as the Financial Director of the NYS Child Care Coordinating Council of Albany, a not for profit organization that provides training, education and policy in childcare.

She gave generously of her time to family and friends leaving a lasting impression of kindness and joy, her love blessed all who met her as she had an undaunted belief that forgiveness and compassion were the foundations of happiness and the willingness to act selfless was a spiritual gift one could give in any circumstance.

Carole volunteered and organized many community events; led the Sacred Heart School Ski Club; a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts; former Board member for Troy Chromatics Concerts Inc.; a tutor for the Literacy Volunteers of America and local theaters and concert venues.

Carole had strong interest in the arts, attending concerts, plays, museums and events throughout the Capital District, Berkshires. Montreal and NYC.

Her greatest joys were spending time with and being surrounded by her family and friends, as well as her passion for reading and education.
