Albany - Carol Willard Hook, 80, died Monday, April 12, 2021, at Daughters of Sarah after a long illness.
Born in Pleasantdale, NY, she was daughter of the late Eugene Willard and Helen Winchip Willard and wife for 57 years of J. Neil Hook. She was raised in Pleasantdale and resided in Queens, Troy, Brunswick, Pittstown and most recently Albany. Carol earned her Bachelor's degree from Russell Sage College late in life in May of 2000.
Carol was Director of Faith Formation at St. Margaret Mary's Church in Albany and prior to that worked for the Criminal Justice System in Albany for 15 years.
She was an active community volunteer, working behind the scenes and knitting and making clothing for the needy. She knitted clothing for Granny Squares at St. Margaret Mary's Church in Albany and was an animal lover, especially cats and her favorites, Felix and Oscar.
Survivors in addition to her husband include a daughter, Helen M. Hook, Elmira; a son, Paul E. Hook, Albany; two grandchildren, Jessica Cameron and Julia Hook; brother, Edward Willard, San Francisco; a sister, June (Joe) Jackson and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Christine A. Hook.
Relatives and friends may call at Sacred Heart Church 475 Pawling Avenue Troy on Monday, April 19, 2021 from 10-11:30 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:30AM with Rev. John Yanas, Pastor, officiating. Face covering and social distancing are required both outside and inside during visitation and services.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Troy.
