Troy - Life long resident of Troy, Carey M. Morrissey, 71, passed away after a sudden illness, Thursday, March 30, 2023.
Beloved "Nana" to her grandchildren, cherished wife of 50 years to her husband Bob, who passed away 8 months ago, and wonderful mom to Colleen and Bobby, Carey will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
Survivors include daughter Colleen (Kevin Wheatley) Morrissey of Waterford, son Robert Morrissey of Troy, and grandson Declan Wheatley and granddaughter Eve Wheatley, both of Waterford. She was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Alice Smith.
Carey retired in 2010 from the Troy Housing Authority after a 31 year career in tenant relations.
She was an avid reader who enjoyed her book club, and she was a life long friend of animals, loving many dogs and cats over the years, including her cat pals Rudy and Grayson. But, most of all, she loved her grandchildren and, along with Pa, she was a constant presence in Declan and Eve's lives, and they will both benefit forever from her wisdom and caring.
She also loved garden gnomes, houseplants, and watching TV with Bob and Bobby. She was a member of Sacred Heart parish.
