Englewood, FL - Brian Patrick Cooney, 67, died Monday, July 24, 2023, at HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital Port Charlotte following a brief illness.
Born September 11, 1955 in Troy, he was son of the late John James Cooney and Margery Malone Cooney. He had residences in Englewood and Port Charlotte Florida, Troy New York and attended Troy High School.
Brian was employed by Albany Steel and LaCorte Electric for many years before becoming a self-employed General Contractor.
Brian was a true friend and always there when needed. He was a fan of Harley Davidsons, enjoyed boating at his camp on Great Sacandaga Lake, loved country and Western music. Brian lived life the way he chose to right till the end. We will all miss his “unquiet” presence.
He is survived by his daughter, Nicole Radliff, her husband Michael Radliff and 3 Grandsons, Aidan and Cameron Van Dyk, Keegan Radliff. Also survived by a son, Patrick Brunette, his wife Emilee Brunette and his Granddaughter, Teagan Alivia Brunette. A sister, Kristin (Steve) Ayotte of Troy, brothers Kevin (Maureen)Cooney of Watervliet and Michael Cooney of Waterford, a brother-in-law, Ronald McEvilly of Florida. Brian is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents and sister Erin (Ronald) McEvilly and his brothers John J., Robert J., Richard J. and Shaun R. Cooney and his beloved sister-in-law Eileen Sage Cooney.
Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Friday, September 22, 2023 from 4-7 PM. Please bring a photo and/or a memory to share during the visiting hours.
