Betty Jane (Richardson) Berner

North Greenbush - Betty Jane Berner, 94, formerly of Geiser Road died Sunday, September 10, 2023, at Albany Medical Center Hospital after a  brief illness.

Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late Dexter E. Richardson and Anna E. Horton Richardson and wife of the late Harold Edward  Berner. She had resided most of her life in North Greenbush, living within eyesight of the farm she grew up on, on Route 43 and attended Averill Park Schools. 

Betty was an engraver on the 6th floor for the former Montgomery Wards in Menands for 10 years and later was a bus driver for the Averill Park School District for 25 years.  

She enjoyed fishing, bingo and bowling at Hi-Way Recreation in Wynanskill.    

Survivors include two sons, Bruce H. (Georgieann) Berner, East Nassau and Gary E. (Linda) Berner, North Greenbush; her daughter, Shirley Berner Ernst, North Greenbush; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; a great great grandson and several nieces and nephews. 

There will be no calling hours.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at 10AM at the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 4392NY150, West Sand Lake with Rev. Kristi Van Patten, officiating. 

Interment will be in  Blooming Grove Cemetery Defreestville.
